Contact and Cookbook Orders

Use this page for questions about the cookbook, gift or bulk orders, and anything about the recipes. You can reach the team by phone, by email, or through the form below. Orders are handled by invoice, so nothing here takes a card online.

What to ask about

Questions about a specific recipe, requests for a sample before buying, bulk orders for a class or a shop, gift copies, and anything about shipping or invoicing. If you are not sure whether a recipe suits your oven or your skill level, ask. That is a normal question and it gets a straight answer.

Phone and email

The team can be reached by phone during working hours, or by the form on this page. If you prefer email, the form routes your message to the same inbox. Response times are usually within a few business days.

Hours
Monday–Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Saturday: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Every message reaches the cookbook team directly. Recipe questions get a specific answer rather than a template — whether the issue is a cold ferment, a stubborn oven stone, or a crust that puffs too fast.

Recipe questions

Hydration, flour, oven setup, timing. Tell us what you are cooking on and we will answer for that.

Sample requests

Ask for a sample recipe page before you buy, so you can see how the directions are written.

Shipping and invoicing

Where a copy ships, what the invoice looks like, and how gift and bulk copies are coordinated.

Orders run by invoice. Write once, and the team replies with the details and the next step.

Orders by invoice

Cookbook orders are handled by invoice rather than online checkout. Send your request through the form or by phone, and the team will follow up with the details. There is no card payment on this site. Bulk and gift orders follow the same process.

  1. 1

    Send the request

Use the form below or call during working hours. Tell us how many copies, whether it is a gift, and anything with a deadline attached.

  2. 2

    Get the invoice details

The team replies with the invoice, the total for your quantity, and the shipping arrangements for your address.

  3. 3

    Confirm and ship

Once the invoice is settled, the copies are packed and sent. You will hear from the team at each step rather than chasing an order status.

Nothing is charged on this site. The invoice is issued after your request, so you always see the number before anything is paid.

Bulk and gift orders

If you are ordering for a group, a cooking class, or as a gift, say so in your message and include an approximate quantity. Bulk orders are handled the same way as single copies, just with more coordination on timing. Gift orders can be arranged through the same form.

  • Classes and workshops: tell us the date and roughly how many cooks, so copies arrive ahead of the session.
  • Shops and resellers: say how many copies you want to hold and where they would ship.
  • Gifts: note the occasion and any delivery window, and we will keep the timing in mind.

What happens after you write

Your message goes to the cookbook team directly. If your question is about a recipe, expect a specific answer rather than a form letter. If it is about an order, you will get the invoice details and next steps by reply. Either way, you will hear back.

We use your details only to answer this message and arrange any order. Nothing is charged online and no card details are collected here.

Where we are

The cookbook team works out of 745 Basil Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94110, USA. There is no storefront to visit. This address is for correspondence and order coordination only.

Before you write

Have your question or your quantity ready, and mention the recipe by name if it has one. For a bulk order, a rough headcount is enough to start — the exact number can be confirmed later in the conversation.

Still deciding? Ask first, buy later.

If you are weighing the cookbook for yourself, a class, or a gift, send the question you actually have. The team can point you to the chapters that cover your oven and the styles you want to cook, so the decision comes after the answer rather than before it.

Questions we get most

Short answers to the three things people ask before they write. Anything else, the form below is the fastest route.

Can I pay by card on the site?

No. Orders are handled by invoice after you contact the team. There is no online card checkout on this site, and no card details are collected anywhere on this page.

Do you take bulk orders?

Yes. Include an approximate quantity and the intended use in your message, and the team will follow up with details. Classes, shops, and gift orders all go through the same route, just with more coordination on timing.

How long does a reply take?

Usually within a few business days. Recipe questions get a specific answer rather than a template, which is why the reply may take a little longer than an order confirmation.

If you would rather read before you write, the cookbook's chapters are described on Inside the Cookbook and the dough fundamentals are covered in Dough Fundamentals.
